The panel was attended by Dr. Haj Al-Shuaib, the Governor’s consultant of Hadramout for Health Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Akbari, chairman of the Ibn Sina Hospital and Mr. Najeeb Khanbash, head of the Bar Association in Hadramout Attorney. The panel reviewed three axes: an academic axis for the definition of medical responsibility and medical errors represented by Dr. Abdullah Yusalm bin Ghauth, vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicineand the director of the Research Department at Dar Al-Ma’arif for Research and Statistics: a legal axis about the relationship between law and medicine represented by the lawyer, Mr. Yusalm Abdullah Babtain: a professional axis on the current reality of professional behavior in medicine from errors, neglect and judjment represented by Dr. Abdul Rabee Bamousi, head of Community Development Department, Faculty of Medicine at Hadramout University.
The panel focused on the medical responsibility and all what it covers, starting with the professional licenses, the doctor’s relationship with the patients and the ways that should be followed to reduce the medical errors such as continuous training, providing equipment and requirements, and repairing the work environment in hospitals, in addition to a number of laws such as practicing the medical profession and the Medical Council Law.
Dr. Abdullah Bin Shehna made a presentation and explained the authority responsible for evaluating the health work, the efforts of the doctors , the health staff and the difficulties they suffer during the state conditions and the lack of appreciation by some, emphasizing on the need for a medical association to protect them. Followed him the Director of Legal Affairs in the Public Health Office and the population of the coast of Hadramout with another intervention on the reasons that lead to medical errors, and separating between public work and private work in a way that gives the doctor its full rights according to the law.
