Today at Al-Fakhama Hall in Al-Mukalla city, Dar Al-Ma’arif for Research and Statistics is having iftar meal and the announcement of the results of the study of the societal satisfaction of the security situation and the level of services in the city of Mukalla during the period 24 April 2016 to 24 April 2017, honoring the contributors to the success of its activities in the previous period.
At the beginning, Mr. Abdul Aziz Jaber, vice chairman of al-Dar and executive director, provided the blessing on the occasion of Ramadan month for the attendees, thanking them to attend the event of presenting the results of the field research about the security situation, and honoring the shareholders for the success of the programs and activities of al-Dar..
He explained that Dar Al Ma’arif was founded to contribute to an important stage in Hadramout, a stage of building and giving in which research, statistics and community building should take place with science and study away from theorizing and emotions. Dar Al Ma’arif will work with the Authority and civil society institutions to achieve real development. And the programs of al-Dar, whether in sessions or workshops or seminars and panel discussions that were qualitative and distinctive, although we consider it simple acts measured by the impact of the launch of programs and major activities with the participation of international organizations.
He added that Dar Al Ma’arif has produced a traditional artwork of Dan’s dedication to the Alliance on the occasion of the first anniversary of the liberation of Mukalla. Dr. Abdulla Salem bin Ghauth, professor of community medicine at Hadramout University and director of the research and statistics department in al-Dar, reviewed the results of the field study on the societal satisfaction with the security situation and the level of services in the city of Mukalla during the period from 24 April 2016 to 24 April 2017. This study that was aimed to know the citizens’ opionion and giving the index to decision-makers and the results were As follows:
The total member of the sample which has been analyzed was 232 person, of which 120 were males (51.8%) and 112 females (48.2%). The youth in the age group are 18-30 years, where the majority in the study sample (166/232) that is 71.5%, it followed bythe age group of 31-45 years old by 19.4%, then followed by the age group 46-60 years old by 6.9%, while the elderly group age over 60 years of age accounted for only 2.2% of the sample..
In general, the majority of respondents (85.7%) expressed satisfaction with the security procedures carried out by the local authorities and the hadrami elite forces in Mukalla and its suburbs, but only half of the respondents (53.7%) expressed their satisfaction with the level of services in general.
In terms of security, the study of the security situation was limited to four results of the security procedures. The decrease in the number of assassinations has the highest satisfaction rate of 85.7%, followed by the satisfaction with the decrease in the number of kidnappings of individuals by 78%, and the lowest satisfaction rate is the existence of effective procedures to control dealers and abusers of drugs by 45.2%.
In terms of services. The study was limited to eight basic services and school continuity was the most satisfied with 77.5%, followed by satisfaction with electricity services (66.8%), satisfaction with landline services (66.2%) and water continuity (55%). Satisfaction with the availability of basic health services is 42.2% and mobile services by 40.2% and the lowest satisfaction rate for the Internet service 32.1% and the development of roads 19.7%.
In the speech of Eng. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Amoudi, the undersecretary of Hadramout province for technical affairs, in which he said that the province lacked accurate statistics and that more than a foreign side ask for statistics on a particular subject, but we do not have any accurate percentage because each institution gives numbers different from the other, that is why we are very happy for Dar al-Ma’arif which is specialized in giving accurate percentage and statistics.
In terms of the field study which is carried out by al-Dar, we are working on selecting cadres to certify their integrity and their pages are white and honorable.
